Creative brief

The buyer added updates to the brief. Read them.

What is the exact name you would like in your logo?

iDesign (but open to an abbreviation such as in the logo for StumbleUpon)

What is your industry?

Internet

What are the top 3 things you would like to communicate through your logo?

1. Breaking down the barriers in mobile app-making (Democratization of app-making) - Letting anyone with an idea pursue their dream.
2. That our app has blocks, much like Lego, and is as easy as Lego
3. Fun to use (maybe through color?)

What logo styles do you like (image + text, image only, text only, etc.)

Image + Text
We would like the image in our logo to have a 1:1 aspect ratio (it can be circular), so that it can be used without much change as our iPhone app icon (which is square).

Do you have any other info or links you want to share?

Please check out our website, www.idesignyourapps.com, especially watch the 1 min video to understand what we're about. We "hate" our current logo!!! It's boring, poorly rendered.

Logos we like: Playstation, Stumbleupon

Brief updates

15-Nov-12 5:14 a.m. GMT
1. Please avoid black
2. Make it colorful, fun
3. Check out the logos we said we love: Playstation, StumbleUpon
4. Bring character, boldness/weight to the font or text you use
15-Nov-12 10:13 p.m. GMT
1. Please test the logo on both white and dark grey/black

2. The logo should look good as is as an app icon (please give us an app icon vector image)

Added a rough draft logo from my side (done in Powerpoint!) as inspiration. Its not polished or quite there but has some of the elements I am looking for. FOR INSPIRATION!

1. Modern, Vibrant Feel

2. Nice splash of color (although I kept this monotone - I have a feeling too many colors are taking away from the simplicity).

3. Simplicity in the circular logo

4. I would like the logo to have the full name also - consistent with our website idesignyourapps.com, with the yourapps.com part less prominent, and not ruining the simplicity and style.

Hi Everyone,

*********** THIS IS AN IMPORTANT DIRECTIONAL UPDATE ***********

I would like to get away from the iD in the logo and instead focus on conveying the concept and meaning behind our idea. Please check out our video on idesignyourapps.com - less than 1 min. We are helping founders (even non-technical founders) to go from Idea > Mockups > CodingReadyTM designs, all in Real-Time, on their iPhone. We are helping them pursue their passion, keep their dreams alive. I know a light bulb is often used to represent ideas but I don't want the usual light bulb shape. I would like to see some creativity on how a shape can convey the concept and have solidity behind it - modern yet not flimsy or too light. Perhaps Nike's logo is a good example of how a shape can convey meaning.

Thanks. I know you guys will unleash your true creativity with this brief.

Keep up the good work - we are almost there!!!!!

********* PLEASE IGNORE StumbleUpon and Playstation Logos. *********

It was meant to convey a direction in terms of being modern and timeless, but it drove you guys to get stuck on "iD" as an integral part of the logo. As per my most recent update, we want to focus on the emotion and the concept, not on "iD". Thanks!!

PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THESE OVERUSED CONCEPTS. THANKS.

******* BEFORE POSTING ANY NEW ENTRIES PLEASE READ THIS *******

I truly appreciate the extraordinary effort you all are putting in, and am honored to have so many amazingly creative people on our project.

I want to emphasize these 3 requirements again:

1. Our logo should have an image (aspect 1:1 - either square of circle) and text. The image part of the logo itself should not have any text inside it, no "iD" please. We want it to represent the concept and be able to survive changes in our name.

2. We want to be able to use a version of the image (1:1 aspect ratio - square or circle) as our iPhone app icon.

3. We need a version of the logo both on white/light as well dark grey/black backgrounds.

We are getting closer, and some entries are amazing. Hoping for another burst of creativity, this time more aligned with above requirements. Rock on!!

Hi All,

Firstly Thank you for honoring our project with your creativity!
You have my apologies for the lack of feedback in the last 2 days, leading into the holiday weekend. Please know that if I rated your design a 5 or if I have not rated your design yet, you are still in the running, and I will do so over the weekend.

I am extending the deadline to a couple of days past the Thanksgiving weekend, so those of us based in the US can spend weekend with family.

Look forward to your best work yet!!

Hi everyone.

I think we are in the final lap for this project, and I would like to summarize here the essence / concept I am trying to bring out with the logo image. We are trying to bring out "progress" = "moving forward" = "moving ahead" = "taking your app idea and making it codingready". Please do watch our 1 min video on codingready.com if you have not already done so.

Also please bear in mind the following:
- Logo = 1) image that should fit in a square (e.g. app icon) and therefore a 1:1 aspect ratio is desirable, + 2) stylized text for iDesign or iDesign yourapps.com.

- The logo must not be rigid or have sharp corners. please think of a nice flow/curves.

- Keep it simple esp in terms of colors. Please take a look at the top ranked entries to get a sense of the colors. Except for 1 logo I think, all others have very few colors and are simple. Simplicity is preferred, in every way!!

- Please be sure to submit a design that has: 1) both white and dark grey/black background, 2) app icon for iphone with the logo image - could be a more stylized version of the logo image e.g. with some depth added etc, 3) We would need a vector rendering of the final designs so they can be resized without distortion.

***** I CANT WAIT TO SEE THE FINAL BURST OF CREATIVITY FROM YOU ALL!! *****

I know I can hope to see your best work yet! Keep it up - just the last few days to go! Thanks!

I would add that while a couple of you have gotten away with making the logo image a variant of "id", and yet gotten high ratings, thats only because I could see myself interpreting that more than just "id".

**** WE DO NOT WANT ANY MORE "ID" VARIANTS IN THE LOGO IMAGE ****
INSTEAD, PLEASE MAKE AN EFFORT TO UNDERSTAND THE CONCEPT & CREATIVELY DELIVER SOMETHING THAT BRINGS OUT THE CONCEPT IN A SIMPLE YET TIMELESS MANNER!! THANKS!

Hi All,

As we mentioned before:

2 days remaining...keep the awesome creativity coming!!
