Hello designers! We're ready for a logo for a soon-to-launch web service. We're looking to convey 3 major concepts. The first two, connectedness and growth, have natural visuals in the name and its unique spelling: A) a fat evergreen with needles growing to the sky and B) two Us that are larger than the other letters and somehow intertwined. The third concept, intelligence, is really about how you put these elements together in a cool, cohesive, interesting way. (Thus the "Wow, that's smart" title for our project!) I've provided a lot of sample logos to give you inspiration, and I believe this project is a fun one, so I hope you won't let the NDA stop you from participating. (Our lawyer demanded it despite my protests.) You will be able to use your work in your portfolio and I am ready and excited to provide timely, thoughtful feedback and ratings to guide you as needed. Thanks for your consideration!
I might have buried this concept in the brief, but we're really hoping to convey connectedness & growth by integrating the text & graphics in an interesting way (which then conveys intelligence)! Definitely check out these links for sample logos that we think accomplish those ideas and a few that don't. If you lean toward the abstract, that's great -- we definitely don't want to go literal on this one.
The links are near the bottom of the brief.
Thanks very much!
Please feel free to go more abstract / artistic versus conservative -- that's what will make it look smart. As long as it also speaks to connectedness (eg to a large community) and growth (aka EXCITEMENT), I'll get excited! (On that note, think about that excitement when choosing the color palette. You don't need to be overly literal.
Thanks! Have fun!
Hello everyone! I wanted to pull up these links to sample logos that I love or hate so you won't miss them further down the page. It's really valuable to check these out so you can avoid concepts we don't want and potentially draw inspiration from the rest.
Please feel free to get creative with the color palette (err toward more exciting!) and if you want to use some transparent (but not gradient) letters, eg overlapping Us, go for it.
If the tree requirement is limiting your creativity, I'm definitely open to logos that don't use it. We can always have a tree icon that isn't part of the logo. Or you could choose a very abstract execution using small geometric shapes, dotted lines growing in the background, negative space, whatever.
After all, Spruuce is a double entrendre ... sprucing up your career ...
If you're using a tree, one thing to avoid: Skinny solo trees! A spruce has millions of needles; they grow all over the world; they're important in tons of industries; they're all over many campuses. A solo tree looks lonely, and we're trying to show visitors that by joining our service, they'll be connected to all kinds of wonderful, smart people! It's a really important component of the design, and it's where you can have more fun with it, so please keep that in mind.
Thanks again for your interest and participation -- hopefully these updates to the brief will help you create a fabulous design on the first try!
With less than 48 hours left, I wanted to thank everyone who submitted a logo design for this project and especially to those who are still working on one! You've all been a pleasure to work with and I'm looking forward to seeing your final submissions and choosing our winner.
I'm on US Pacific time (Los Angeles --11:20pm right now) and was traveling over the weekend and early this week, making it hard to respond quickly. Just wanted you to know that I'm planted at my desk for the next 2 days and will be able to respond very quickly to any updates you submit.
Thanks again for all your hard work, and best of luck!
Hi everyone - I've extended our deadline because I was pulled away on another business matter today. As a result, I haven't been able to respond to all of your new & revised submissions (wow, there are a lot of them - thank you!). I'll work through them as quickly as possible.
Thank you for your participation and efforts -- you'll hear from me soon!
Thank you for all of your terrific work on our project! I know our requirements were tricky, and you gave me a lot of terrific options! I'm very excited to choose our final logo and move forward.
We had a ton of activity over these last few days and I know some of you were still working on tweaks (or received my feedback in the middle of the night!). Don't worry -- they're close enough for me to make a decision.
I've been sharing our top designs with a select group of people, and I'd like to get their input on the final selections over the next few days. I'll probably make our decision by next Monday.
ALSO, I expect to launch another logo contest within the next few weeks, and that project will allow for a lot more creative latitude than this one. I'll reach out to each of you when it goes up -- it should be a fun one.
Best wishes to all of you and thanks again for such an enjoyable experience (not to mention the great work)!
Once again, I wanted to thank you all for your terrific work on this project! I was just on the phone with a Crowdspring rep and he looked through your entries and said wow, there's a lot of modern, beautiful work here. He's right -- and that's made it tough to choose a winner, especially when we're a startup and have so much on our plates. (Particularly mine!) And that's an excellent problem to have, so thank you! ;)
We've extended the decision deadline, but I wanted you all to know that I've narrowed it down to two final designers. If you're one of them, I just posted a message to your most recent entry so you know you're still in it.
I really enjoyed working with all of you! Our concept wasn't the easiest to translate visually, and you gave me many intriguing, cool interpretations. It's a great-looking collection and I'd be honored to work with all of you again.
On that note, I'll definitely be posting more projects in the next 1-2 months including at least one more logo (easier than this one!). I'll send each of you a note when it goes up so you can decide whether you'd like to participate.
Best of luck to all of you and thank you for your wonderful efforts and talent. This was my first Crowdspring experience and you kept me really busy with all the submissions and feedback, and the results are totally worth it. Keep up the great work and I hope to work with you again soon!
