What do you do?

We develop the cloud hosted document management service/software - Filestar. The software is very easy to use and lets users scan paper directly from their copier to a secure server hosted by us. The user does not need to do anything else - the paper is converted to a searchable PDF and they can use any web browser to search and view the documents. You can read more at http://filestar.eu

Describe the target audience for your landing page

Our target is any business that needs to remove the need to manually file paper in cabinets. These could be small businesses to departments in large businesses. The individuals making the decision are most likely non-technical and involved in an administrative role. We would also like to believe that our audience is very familiar with all of the new gadgets like iPads and iPhones, Twitter, Facebook etc.

What 3 things would you like to communicate to your audience through your landing page?

1. The software is very easy to use and set up.
2. It will save them time and money.
3. We are doing things differently from our old fashioned, stuffy, overpriced competitors in a much more cool and effective way.

How is your company different from your competitors?

We have simplified the whole process of getting paper into a digital archive - cut out all of the fat that our competitors add to justify their expensive offerings. We care more about what the customer wants to achieve and the experience, rather than boasting about technical mumbo-jumbo. We are firmly in with the new generation Web 2.0 crowd instead of living in the past. In terms of image and presentation http://www.inforouter.com/ is the complete antithesis of what we are.

What landing page design styles do you like?

Minimal in a West-Coast cool way - e.g. Twitter, Apple. I really like the 'Tour' page on www.freshbooks.com. I'd like it to be clean and simple with large text fonts. No photos (our competitors tend to use stock images of paper stacks and copiers - YUK!!) - instead I would like 'sketchy' style art or some variant. Would be good to have a banner near the top.
I was happy with our existing site at filestar.eu but I want something a bit more minimal with less wording and more 'relaxed' (but I like the large fonts). The logo from their can be re-used - you can change it's colour if you want. Again I'll refer you to http://www.freshbooks.com/billing.php?header_to... for inspiration with respect to art style/icons etc.

What colors do you want to see in your landing page?

I want to have a basic colour palette - preferably with a light (or white) background. Light blues would be good but I'll leave it to you.

What colors do you NOT want to see in your landing page?

pinks, browns, dark colours - anything that looks stuffy and staid.

What content must be included in the landing page?

Logo at the top.
Banner with some art to abstractly depict what the software does - e.g. take paper from copier, upload to cloud based archive and easily search and view using web browser (could incorporate a copier, a person, some paper, a cloud and a computer/web browser)
Section to high-light some key features (again see filestar.eu)
Section for 'How-It-Works' - (incorporating some icons or art) - e.g. step 1, step 2, step 3, step 4.
Section for customer quotes.
