Captivate.org

What do you do?

Captivate.org provides a software platform for other nonprofits to help boost awareness and donations through a unique concept that marries charity raffles with Kickstarter liked tiered incentives.

We entice donors to purchase entries into the raffle with an unforgettable experience (could be a weekend in LA with your favorite celebrity or an all expenses paid trip to an exotic location). Then we encourage purchasing more entries by making them less expensive for larger quantities and offering guaranteed prizes as you reach the higher tiers. After the donor has purchased their entries, we encourage sharing by giving the sharer entries every time one of their friends purchases entries themselves.

Some of the great benefits that we offer are brand enhancement for both the companies who've supplied the prizes as well as the charity that's benefiting from the campaign. We also don't charge the charities a penny to use our platform.

How many pages of illustration do you need?

1, Easily showing the benefits of Captivate.org to the charity/company participating.

What do you need illustrated?

We need an infographic that quickly and easily explains how our site works and the benefits of the platform to the charity and corporate/celebrity sponsor.

Highlights for the charities considering using Captivate.org include:
- Unlike auctions, the charity receives everyone's "bids," not just the highest bidder. This puts more money in the charity's pocket and gives everyone a chance to win.
- It doesn't cost the charity or the sponsor a penny to participate. We merely take a small transaction fee out of the entries that donors purchase to pay for hosting, credit card transaction fees, etc.
- We do a great job of highlighting both the charity that's benefitting from the campaign as well as the companies/celebrities sponsoring the campaign to make people aware of who they are and of their philanthropic efforts.

Does your illustration need to be a particular size?

I would like the infographic that sells charities/companies on Captivate.org to have a version that's 600 pixels wide so that it fits into emails nicely.

What is your industry?

Internet

Describe the target audience for your illustration

One infographic is intended to help sell charities/companies on using our platform.

What 3 things would you like to communicate to your audience through your illustration?

Listed above, but repeated here:

What lillustration styles do you like?

We like this that has illustrations for each piece, however I feel this is too cluttered. Something more easily understood at a quick glance would be great. http://academics.uww.edu/libmedia/WEMTA13Visual...

This one is nice in that it's unique but explains a complex idea easily.

I like the cartoon-y graphics style of this one as well.

What colors do you want to see in your illustration?

There isn't a huge emphasis in color, however using some of the colors from our logo might be a good tie-in.

What colors do you NOT want to see in your illustration?

I won't bar any colors, but obviously it should maintain a good design palette and not overdo the use of color.

What adjectives should best describe your illustration?

Concise, succinct, informative.

Where will you use the illustration (print, website, etc.)?

We will put it on a page on our website as well as use it in emails to prospective clients.

Do you have additional info or links you'd like to share?

The website is located at http://captivate.org. I'm also going to upload our logo in several treatments so it can be used in the infographics.

Brief updates

To hopefully help people visualize the flow a bit better, here are some bullet points laid out as steps.

1. Captivate works with the charity and corporate/celebrity sponsor to come up with amazing prizes and unforgettable experiences.
2. Captivate puts the campaign up on the website and start advertising it through our social channels as well as Google and Facebook ads. The charity and sponsor do the same to help drive traffic.
3. Captivate entices donors to purchase entries through a tiered system that makes each entry less expensive as they purchase in greater bulk and unlocks access to better and better prizes the more they spend. We also encourage donors to share the campaign with their friends via our unique entry matching system. (This is where it'd be great to show a little graphic that explains the process where we give the original sharer an entry for every entry their friends purchase up to their original purchase amount.)
X. (not a step per se, but something I definitely want highlighted.) Using the Captivate platform, the charity captures everyone's "bid" and gives even the guy with only $10 to spare a chance to win. Whereas an auction limits the pool of hopefuls to a few wealthy donors and the charity only captures the highest bidder's money.
4. Upon the campaign completion, Captivate's platform will automatically randomize the entries and pick a winner for the grand prize. We then work with the winner to make all of their accommodations and document their journey to create a shareable video to entice more users to enter in more campaigns.
5. Once all of the transactions have cleared, we transfer all of the funds minus a small transaction fee (covers all credit card transaction fees, hosting, advertising, etc.) (Would be good to show little graphics somewhere around here illustrating those three things) directly to the charity so they can do what they do best. Help those in their communities and abroad.

Hopefully that helps simplify this a bit more. Let me know if you have any further questions.

Want to give people a chance to get their entries submitted and get feedback.

This is another example of a nice infographic. I like it that the text is displayed with images that illustrate the point and tell a story.

To help give some structure and guidance for your entries, I sketched up a quick idea of how this could be put together. I'd like some of your creative input on ways to reduce the wordy-ness of it and add more graphics, but hopefully it helps you get your entries in line with our vision.
