There are three sets of illustrations.
1) Mixing a martini
2) Shucking an oyster
3) Cutting a pineapple
Each frame should be no smaller than 2" x 2"
That said, if the artist needs to work on a larger scale, that is completely acceptable.
Other
This information is not relevant.
The illustrations simply need to convey information in the photos upon which they are based.
There are three How-to's to be illustrated. Each should be a different style.
If you have your own illustration style, I welcome you using that.
You may choose your own colors for the illustrations, however, be aware that simpler is better. You may also modify the compositions (be cautious about this) to take advantage of the cartoon medium.
Ultimately the most important thing is that you can 1) produce the illustrations quickly, 2) keep them
Readable – ie, not over stylized, colored or rendered such that the effects distract from what is being conveyed.
The styles of the following artists (cartoonists) would be preferred:
1) Adrian Tomine
2) Philippe Dupuy
3) Gregory Gallant (Seth)
4) Ron Rege Jr.
5) Any well-known manga artist
Color palette's should be limited / somewhat muted and consistent with colored illustrations from the above artists. Bright colors of artists like Peter Bagge are NOT preferred.
