What icon or button design styles do you like?

Have attached an icon of a calendar that shows the quality we are looking for in terms of using gradiants and especially the 'yellow magic dust' look that we wanted to incorporate...we're hoping to get as close to what the calendar graphic shows as possible with this. The comp we have attached was thrown together quickly and is really too icon looking to us....to much like stock art, too cartoony, if that makes sense. We want something that is more professional looking. Have also included another graphic that we will be using on our website (see attached series of blue and green metal gears) that this graphic should aspire to be more like.

What colors do you want to see in your icon or button design?

greens and blues (like the attached 'gears' image), like our Maptive logo, and then yellow gold dust with orbs in between the graphics (like the calendar image).

What colors do you NOT want to see in your icon or button design?

reds or darker oranges...our comp and attached graphics give a pretty idea of our palette

What adjectives should best describe your icon or button design?

should look like a professional illustration and a bit whimsical...we are trying to steer away from something too 'blocky' looking by using a typical 'page' like icon for the spreadsheet and the checklist (the first two graphics). Have also included a couple of graphics of a map icon (see the layered PSD file) that we think can be improved on as is very close to what we are looking for. All three icons should look like they fit together and shouldn't look like cheap pop art you get with a lot of software these days. Again, the shading and detail should be similar to the 'gears' graphic that has been attached.

What content must be included in the icon or button design?

use the same text that is included with the file. and we would need a layered illustrator of photoshop file so that we can make easy changes to the text that overlays these graphics (see comp).

Do you have additional requirements or links you'd like to share?

that's it! we're hoping we can continue to do additional work with the person selected as more graphics will be needed shortly. we are working to get these graphics done so we can launch our new website! :)
