Describe the target audience for your icon or button design

John Smith is a small business owner. He regularly commutes between his home and main office several times per week. He takes several longer trips to clients on a monthly basis. He considers himself fairly tech-savvy and owns a smartphone to stay connected while on the road. He wants to use technology to solve the hassle of tracking his mileage reimbursements.

What 3 things would you like to communicate to your audience through your icon or button design?

This application is...effective

What icon or button design styles do you like?

I'd like to see simulated 3d icons with a Web 2.0 look.

What colors do you want to see in your icon or button design?

I don't want to specify exact colors. I'm not sure what I want. It should look good with the posted application screenshot.

What colors do you NOT want to see in your icon or button design?

Since my application and logo uses Orange (0xFF6600), and various shades of gray and black, the icons should avoid too much use of those so they can stand out.

What adjectives should best describe your icon or button design?

The icons should be descriptive enough that I could potentially remove the words on my buttons (as seen in the application screenshot). It should be perfectly clear what each button does.

What content must be included in the icon or button design?

The swatches are the colors of my application. These don't need to be used in the icon design and are included for reference. The attached application screenshot details which icons need to be replaced.

Do you have additional requirements or links you'd like to share?

Home - This icon takes the user to the home screen in the application. Here they see a welcome message along with the latest posts from our blog.
Create Reports - This icon allows the user to upload .GPX files from business trips they've taken. They can describe the business purpose of each trip and select them to create a report including multiple trips.
View Reports - This icon shows the user their created reports. They can download a PDF of each report from this screen.
Settings - This icon allows the user to do things like change their password and set custom reimbursement amounts for each type of business travel.
Map It - this icon (16x16) is displayed on the Create Reports screen. It allows the user to open a map showing the trip so they can refresh their memory about what the business purpose of that trip was.
