We are a company that has created a new publishing model for "crowdscribing" books based on crowdsourcing principles - calling on vast pools of online talent from around the world to assemble books in a way that creates richer, more relevant content based on competition and collective global intellect.Ultimately, we want to facilitate new ways to get books written by involving the Web crowd as a creative and content source.

This particular book project is designed to bring in collections of the best 25 business sayings and idioms, or "aphorisms" as we call them, from various parts of the world; in this case, China and Hong Kong.

What 3 things do you want to communicate to your audience through this piece?

Since this project is slightly different from composing complete chapters of a book, or complete pages for an essay, our mission for communicating is not as defined. But to narrow it down, we want to communicate that:

1. Doing business in various parts of the world requires a good or "healthy" understanding of differences in common or popular phrases and cultural references. Saying something wrong could spell disaster if you don't do your research!

2. People in various parts of the world have different ways of looking at and talking about what's going on in the world around them.

3. Respect for the culture of others in their native land is very important for doing business, accomplishing travel goals, and having an open mind for getting the most out of the experience!

This actually means "to speak the truth" in Pisin English, the national language in Papua New Guinea.

Do you have a thesis or conclusion that must be reached?

We need from each writer ONE collection of 25 of the best business sayings and idioms (or aphorisms) from the areas of China and Hong Kong. We need each collection to be the most interesting, funny, or clever and intelligent examples of these sayings or idioms. We also hope they will be popular and respected as important words, especially in the business world.

For each collection of 25 sayings submitted, we need each individual saying to be in the following format/style:

- One version of the saying in English

- One version of the saying in a native language of the area we are asking for - China or Hong Kong (so Chinese, Mandarin, Cantonese, etc.)

- An explanation or description of what the saying really means in a literal, practical sense.

- Pronunciation (phonetic spelling) written out in English

Does any specific information need to be included?

For each collection of 25 sayings submitted, we need each individual saying to be in the following format/style:

- One version of the saying in English

- One version of the saying in a native language of the area we are asking for - China or Hong Kong (so Chinese, Mandarin, Cantonese, etc.)

- An explanation or description of what the saying means in a literal, practical sense. Please include any historical references or reference if it was from a particular person, place, or period when it originated.

- Pronunciation (phonetic spelling) written out in English

We need each collection to be the most interesting, funny, or clever and intelligent examples of these sayings or idioms. We also hope they will be popular and respected as important words, especially in the business world.

What is your required length in words or pages for this essay?

We only need a collection of 25 sayings. Each saying can be only a few words or it may be 2-3 sentences if it needs to be.
