Creative brief

What does your company do?

We provide a platform where anyone can discover and learn the skills they need from vetted experts (professionals, entrepreneurs, academics, etc.)
And we provide the platform and tools for "experts" to publish, promote and manage classes on skills they master, whether in a classroom or online/video.

Do you require that a .COM or other URL be available for the new name?

We need a .com and a twitter handle.
We will consider .com and twitter handle that are a variation, where the name is fantastic and the .com is unavailable (example "Crew" = "pickcrew.com")

What is your industry?

Describe your customers

Industry is education, skills and training.
Customers are initially entrepreneurs, founders, business owners, startups.
But ultimately learners can be anyone looking to develop one or several skills, to build a business, to get ahead in their careers, to change jobs, or just because they want to.
Providers ("experts") are also customers - these are professionals, early-career academics, experienced entrepreneurs, professional trainers.

What 3 things do you want your company name to communicate to your customers?

Anyone can discover and learn a skill.
Learning is fun and easy.
Teaching is fun and easy.

Brief updates

15-Apr-14 6:05 p.m. GMT
Many of the proposals have used explicit words, like skill or learn. These words, and names that use these words, tend to be abundant on the internet and have a high likelihood of leading to confusion.
We would strongly prefer names that have no allusion to the product/service itself or that evoke it subtly, rather than directly, in a cool manner.
Hope this helps.
Thank you

We are not very keen on names that explicitly refer to the product or service, using words like skill, learn, classroom, etc.
Hub, forge, foundry, factory, etc. are also not ideal to use in combination because they are overused by the tech startup community, and evoke specific things to people, which are not necessarily what we stand for.
We would prefer a word or word combination that is not related to the product/service at all but is fresh and memorable.
Or a word or word combination that potentially evokes a similar outcome or a similar process to the service (e.g. something that subtly evokes exchanging information or expertise, without actually saying it).
Thank you!

Pleas ensure the names are very easy to pronounce, easy to spell and easy to remember, as much as possible.

Dear creatives,

There has been some great effort and a some good suggestions coming through. This has also helped us better understand what we are looking for.

We have found 2-3 suggestions that we could potentially choose, but we are not in love with them... And so thought it would be worth allowing a bit more time to let someone come up with the one.

Ideally, we would like a 2/3 syllable word, composed of 2 words or 2 ideas that combine to form something easy to read, spell and remember.

The combined word may mean something or mean nothing. If it means something or could mean something to some people, then it should be related to what we do, but not explicit.

Think Homeaway, Housebites, Soundcloud, Citymapper, Betfair, Crowdspring, etc.

Thank you and good luck!
