We're a new Australian flute and guitar duo using these two instruments as a basis for our ensemble, allowing for combinations of other instruments and vocalists. We'll perform at formal and sometimes informal concerts settings and workshops around the country. We're seasoned performers and known in our own instrument fields.

Are there specific words or phrases you like?
Do you have other info you want to share?
A generic name that can accommodate a group that expands and contracts. Would be OK to give it an Australian lilt, but not something as obvious as e.g. 'The Southern Cross' ensemble.

Wow, what a prolific 24 hours' worth of creativity! Thanks very much for your entries and we appreciate you taking time to find the right name for our music group.

Your entries are helping us refine what we are actually after, so thanks for this. On second thoughts - perhaps some of the completely made up names coming in are a bit too far from anything that may resemble a music ensemble (contrary to what was mentioned in the brief).
Names that have a play on words or do have some association with music / something Australian / sound in general are what we are gravitating towards at present.

I also like the idea of using words that are synonyms for 'sound'.

This process is proving to be a bit more challenging than I first thought. Thanks so much for your entries thus far. We still haven't found many entries that ring true for our group. Some of the names are too familiar and colloquial, drawing on the 'Aussie' theme - this doesn't reflect the elegance we're after in a name for a classical music ensemble.
And some entries are a little too fancy and don't have much bearing toward our musical theme. So tricky to find the path through the middle of these extremes.
Some more Australian names of classical chamber music ensembles for you to keep in mind: Ironwood, Sirius, Bel Canto Singers, Gryffin, Tank Stream Quartet.
We're from Sydney, so something typifying our city would be a possibility. Looking forward to receiving your entries.

We're still searching for the right name that typifies elegance and classical music. I'd love to see more entries on the 'sonos/sound' theme too.

Thanks to everyone sending in your suggestions for a name. To date we haven't found many names we both like the feel of, so the race is not yet won! Lots of creativity out there, which is heartening to see.
