What does your company do?

This company will aim to fund local small businesses. It accomplishes this by appealing to business patrons who have a love and loyalty to certain businesses in their community and are willing to pledge funds for their continued success.

Do you require that a .COM or other URL be available for the new name?

Since this is a web-based funding platform, we're going to have to require that the .COM be available.

Describe your customers

My customers are both small business owners and individual patrons who find joy in shopping locally and at independently owned locations over shopping at chain stores. These customers could be described as urban-oriented, sociable, hip, and progressive types who are part of a new urban-revitalization movement and find joy in defining their community.

What 3 things do you want your company name to communicate to your customers?

Independent (as in independently owned, small), creatively unique (as in a non-chain or franchise) and personable (as in small shop owners are more likely to engage with you on a personal level than big business employees are). Also, words describing a sense of community could be included.

List the names of your top three competitors

Our competitors can be considered to be other crowdfunding sites, although they all have a broader focus in their campaigning. These would include kickstarter, indiegogo, and crowdfunder.

What character, tenor, or spirit do you wish to convey?

Let's tap into the spirit of urban revitalization which encompasses new ideas of community in contrast to suburban life. Think "New York City" life. Some of the characteristics of the spirit convey friendly interaction with your neighbors on the street, interaction with your shop owners and local bartenders, and a familiarity with certain faces on your street. This spirit also conveys a sense of being progressive, stylish, active, creative and adventurous.

Are there any words or phrases you especially like or hate?

Looking for a name that is completely invented and poetic sounding (think Oreo or Google), or evocative of a sense of the character of the business (think "Virgin", see description above) or a hybrid of the two (think "IndieGoGo"). Let's stay away from functional/descriptive name completely (ie 'CrowdFunder', or 'WeFund').
